Support

Need help, found a bug, or have a feature request? Email [email protected] and we'll get back to you.

Box the Wind is under active development, and we want to hear from you. Tell us what's working, and tell us what isn't — the complaints are the more useful half. Bugs, rough edges, anything that got in your way in the basket, features you expected and didn't find: all of it shapes what gets built next.

If you've flown a task with it, we'd like to know how it went.

Requirements

Box the Wind runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 16 or later.

FAQ

What is Box the Wind?

A map- and position-centric app for hot air balloon competition flying: the day's tasks, navigation to targets, drift and closest approach, declared goals, the contest area, and live pilot-to-crew tracking.

How does live tracking work?

The pilot's device broadcasts its position over a private channel to the crew in real time. The channel is derived from a flight code and password you both set, so only your team can see it. If the link drops, the crew sees a clear "stale" indicator rather than a frozen balloon.

Do the maps work without signal?

Yes. With signal the app streams map tiles as you fly. You can also download street and aerial maps for your contest region ahead of time, and they render fully offline. The download is optional.

Where are my flight recordings?

They are stored on your device as GPX files. You can replay, rename, share, or delete them from within the app.
